This morning I sit in a state of humility as I reflect on the Introduction to ThetaHealing I facilitated last night.
The human spirit is so strong, enduring and resilient. It also takes a hammering from time to time and so we, in all our wisdom, employ the ego to set up mechanisms of defence to protect us from ever being hurt ‘like that’ again. The trouble with relying on this system of defence is that it is flawed and its benefits are outweighed by its limitations. Although putting up a shield, shutting feelings ‘off’ and shutting people ‘out’ can make us feel better in the moment, it doesn’t end up serving us in the way we need because it can only provide a pseudo safety net which has the added complication of keeping US trapped inside. Any hurt, any feeling, any emotion that is triggered within us, ONLY EVER NEEDS its EXPRESSION and once it is done, IT IS DONE! For those of you who have seen the film where the guy is trapped between rocks for ‘127 Hours’, I refer to the raw display of sheer determination of the human spirit to survive and the will to live that surfaced above everything else! What a divine and wonderful machine we are!
